Recommended Dilution Ratio: If the Metallix paint needs to be let down, add up to 4oz of water per quart or 16oz of water per gallon.
Surface Preparation:
Metallix paint should be applied to surfaces that have been primed with an appropriate, high-quality, water base primer that has fully dried. Establishing a base color for the primer similar to the chosen Metallix color will result in better coverage and reflectivity.
Application:
Stir well before use. Apply in thin, even, uniform coats, using a high-quality brush, roller, or by spraying*. Do not apply when surface or air temperatures are below 50°F (10°C) or above 90°F (32°C). Follow the Recommended Dilution Ratio above if thinner paint is desired. Note that over-thinning may result in loss of hide.
Spray equipment specifications:
- Use a Conventional or HLVP cup gun with both air and liquid lines from a pressure pot and compressor
- Needle/Tip: 17/100 or 1.4mm
- PSI: 40
- Do not use an airless spray system
Film Thickness: Coverage:
One US gallon of Metallix covers approximately 300 – 400 sq ft (27 – 37 sq m). Coverage varies depending on application technique, dilution, and number of layers.
Avg. Dry Time:
Roughly four hours, depending on temperature, air movement, and humidity. If a second coat is desired, allow the first coat to dry for 6-8 hours beforehand.
Clean-up:
Clean brushes, rollers, other equipment, and your skin immediately after use with soap and warm water. Close container tightly after use.
Disposal:
Dispose of contents/container to an approved waste disposal plant. Consult with local authorities for methods of disposal.
Storage:
Store in a cool/dry location at temperatures between 40°F and 90° F. Do not allow paint to freeze or be exposed to temperatures exceeding 120° F for extended periods.
