Specifications of the Rosco Metallix Paints

  • Finish: Satin/Reflective
  • Solvent: Water
  • Binder Type: Vinyl Acrylic

Recommended Dilution Ratio: If the Metallix paint needs to be let down, add up to 4oz of water per quart or 16oz of water per gallon.

Surface Preparation:

Metallix paint should be applied to surfaces that have been primed with an appropriate, high-quality, water base primer that has fully dried. Establishing a base color for the primer similar to the chosen Metallix color will result in better coverage and reflectivity.

Application:

Stir well before use. Apply in thin, even, uniform coats, using a high-quality brush, roller, or by spraying*. Do not apply when surface or air temperatures are below 50°F (10°C) or above 90°F (32°C). Follow the Recommended Dilution Ratio above if thinner paint is desired. Note that over-thinning may result in loss of hide.

Spray equipment specifications:

  • Use a Conventional or HLVP cup gun with both air and liquid lines from a pressure pot and compressor
  • Needle/Tip: 17/100 or 1.4mm
  • PSI: 40
  • Do not use an airless spray system

Film Thickness: Coverage:

One US gallon of Metallix covers approximately 300 – 400 sq ft (27 – 37 sq m). Coverage varies depending on application technique, dilution, and number of layers.

Avg. Dry Time:

Roughly four hours, depending on temperature, air movement, and humidity. If a second coat is desired, allow the first coat to dry for 6-8 hours beforehand.

Clean-up:

Clean brushes, rollers, other equipment, and your skin immediately after use with soap and warm water. Close container tightly after use.

Disposal:

Dispose of contents/container to an approved waste disposal plant. Consult with local authorities for methods of disposal.

Storage:

Store in a cool/dry location at temperatures between 40°F and 90° F. Do not allow paint to freeze or be exposed to temperatures exceeding 120° F for extended periods.
