Types of Wireless DMX Equipment

Manufacturers offer a range of wireless DMX solutions, each with unique features: IP-rated units for outdoor use, wireless transceivers that function as either a transmitter or receiver, and compact dongles that fit discreetly into the back of lighting equipment.

Wireless DMX Transceivers

Wireless DMX transceivers double as both a receiver and transmitter, these units offer the flexibility of being able to both transmit an incoming DMX lighting signal and receive. This level of freedom allows engineers to easily alter their setup as is needed. Many of these units support both wireless DMX protocols like CRMX or W-DMX.

Wireless DMX Transmitters & Receivers

In addition to transceivers, many manufacturers provide dedicated transmitters and receivers. These units often outperform transceivers by offering superior reliability, increased range, and a simpler setup.

Wireless DMX Dongles

Offered by a range of manufacturers, these units often consist of two different parts: a small DMX dongle that plugs into a lighting fixture's USB port (typically found on Chauvet models) or via the fixture's XLR port.
