Mylac Preparation
Applying the Mylac to a new floor
The surface must be clean, dry and free from any containments before application. Pre Sand the wood with either 100 or 200 grit paper and remove shavings or dust prior to the application of the Mylands Lacquer.
Applying to a previously finished floor
Before applying to a previously finished floor it is very important to remove all traces of wax or polish from the by washing it thoroughly with white spirit (when using White Spirit ensure the area has good ventilation). Sand the floor thoroughly with 100 or 120 grit paper and remove all the dust.
Ensure that the surface is clean and dry before applying the Mylac. It is always recommended to coat a tester area first before embarking on the full project to ensure the lacquer adheres to the previous surface. If in doubt about adhesion, sand the floor back to bare timber, ensuring all of the previous coating is removed, and treat as a new floor.
